Sumerian Research Report
Corey wrote a research report today on inventions of the Sumerians…….
The ancient Sumerians invented many important things that are still used today. One of the most significant inventions was a system of canals to irrigate their fields. They could provide water to their cattle and catch fish. They also made the irrigation canals to control floods.
The irrigation canals lead to city-states because each city-state had its own source of water. City-states are cities that govern themselves. They build walls around the city so it’s protected from enemy cities. Each city-state has its own King. A major benefit of a city-state is that the people could create there own freedom.
The shaduf was another one of their important inventions. It was a bucket on a long stick. The stick was balanced on a tripod of sticks. The farmer would then lower the bucket into the water and then pull on the stick to bring it out of the water. He would then swivel it around and pour it on his crops.
Their inventions benefit us today. We improved them to meet our needs. They were very smart in all fields of the mind.
Halloween
Riley was a LGM (Little Green Man) from Toy Story. Very cute….

Jordan was a werewolf and according to someone at Target, the most popular costume for boys this year.

And reluctantly at first, Corey was nailed the Verizon Guy, complete with bushy eyebrows and sideburns. He won first place in the costume contest at Youth Group.

And we carved six pumpkins this year….

Riley’s Favorite Things
Wendy and I love the fact that Riley still likes to cuddle. He’s the only cuddler left amongst the three boys. And it probably wont last for very long either. So we both fight for the chance to cuddle with him a couple minutes in the morning and at night.
This morning while Wendy went to coffee with a friend, Riley shared his top four things in the world with me.
- Chocolate
- Lego’s
- his Taggie
and then he added a fourth…..fighting.
scarecrow
Yesterday we took our scarecrow to Bates Nut Farm. His name is Pump’Kin Daddy. He is a rapper. He should win. We also got pumpkins.
soccer
Today Jordan and i had a soccer game.
Corey: I played a team that fouls a lot. The refs were really bad they called everything for the other team, but nothing for us. All of the refs had little brothers on the other team. Our coach got really mad at them. He is going to file a complaint. After the game our coach told us not to shake the refs hands. I played forward. I had one guy and gained . I gave two really good passes, but he shot them right at the keeper. We lost 3-1.
Jordan: At the being warm-ups i sprained my finger, but i had to play. We lost 4-1. Our coach said it was our best game. I played left defender. It was fun! My refs were favoring the other team. The refs were bad. Two of the other teams goals should have been offsides.
Soccer
Corey: Our team record is 3 wins, 1 lose, and 3 ties. We are in 3rd out of 8th place. I have played mostly forward. I have scored two goals. One scoring a tying goal. All my goals have come when my mom is not there.
Jordan: His team record is 0 wins, 4 loses, and 2 ties. They are in 7th out of 9th place. He has played all defender. He has blocked a lot of shots with his body. He has taken the ball a lot.

We are making a scarecrow for the Bates Nut Farm Contest. The winner receives $250! He will be a rapper. I painted gold grills. He has a $ necklace. His boxers are showing. And his name is Pump’Kin Daddy!

It was really good food! Then we went to Jedi training! Riley got picked to be a Young ling. He learned some cool moves. Then he fought Darth Vader! Riley beat him. That was his favorite ride/show.
